New Study reveals Gen Z faces Burnout Sooner

A new survey from Talker Research reveals that Gen Z is facing stress and burnout earlier than previous generations, with rising economic pressures and political changes contributing to their struggles.

While past generations typically experienced significant burnout in their 40s and beyond, the study shows that a quarter of Americans are dealing with burnout before 30, and Gen Z is experiencing the highest stress levels by age 25, leading to concerns that these challenges are aging the generation too quickly.

UCF Student starts Petition for QR Code Reservation System

UCF music students are facing challenges securing practice spaces in the Performing Arts Building due to high demand and limited availability. Linda-Joy Shishan, a UCF music major, started a petition advocating for a QR code reservation system to streamline access.

Despite other departments having reservation systems, music students are still left to navigate a chaotic system. This story highlights how the lack of a formal reservation process impacts students' rehearsal routines and performance preparation.

UCF sees Decline in Black Student Enrollment

UCF is experiencing a decline in Black student enrollment, with a 17% drop from Fall 2020 to Fall 2024. The university currently has around 6,000 Black students, down from over 7,000 in 2020.

This reaction piece captured the reaction of students citing reasons such as the lasting impact of COVID-19 and funding cuts by Governor Ron DeSantis, which have affected diversity initiatives. The story also highlights how these challenges may be shaping the experience of Black students at UCF.

UCF Adds New Degree Programs to Environmental Science, Leadership and Sustainability

This year, the College of Undergraduate Studies introduced new degree programs to its curriculum. Reporter Armoni Sloan tells us more about what this change entails.

UCF’s College of Undergraduate Studies has expanded its Environmental Science, Sustainability, and Leadership program.

According to UCF's Undergraduate Catalog website, with the addition of these new programs, students can now earn their degrees fully online, with the exception of the Environmental Science track.

League of Women Voters host Party to the Polls event

UCF's League of Women Voters and other organizations joined forces in getting young voters to the polls.
For the first time, the two clubs hosted a Party to the Polls event at the Reflection Pond. This event featured food, music from Knights of the Turntables, and tabling from other student organizations.

Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy merchandise and giveaways throughout the day. Kylie Smith, LWV's president, said that this event aims to make students prepared voters.
